Pharmacological action
Escuzan is a herbal medicine used for venous circulatory disorders.
It has an anti-exudative and venotonizing effect. It was found that horse chestnut seed extract reduces the concentration of lysosomal enzymes, which reduces the breakdown of mucopolysaccharides in the capillary walls.
Escuzan reduces vascular permeability by preventing filtration of low-molecular-weight proteins, electrolytes, and water into the intercellular space.
