Pharmacological action
The drug Ammonia is an analeptic agent that has a stimulating effect on the respiratory center-reflexively, acting through the receptors of the upper respiratory tract (these are the endings of the trigeminal nerve). Causes reflex respiratory arrest by inhaling ammonia vapors in high concentrations. When applied topically to the skin-antiseptic effect. With prolonged contact, the irritating effect on the skin and mucous membranes can turn into cauterizing (protein coagulation) with the development of hyperemia, swelling and soreness – it is quickly excreted with exhaled air.
Indications
Topically: in the form of lotions for insect bites, as well as to neutralize acidic toxins in insect and snake bites. Ammonia is used as an ambulance to stimulate breathing and bring patients out of a fainting state.
Contraindications

Side effects

How to take, course of use and dosage
Inside, topically, by inhalation. Overdose
