Composition
Solution for topical and external use. 1 bottle (10 ml) contains 100 mg of active iodine (povidone-iodine).
Pharmacological action of the Pharmaceutical group
: antiseptic agent. Pharmaceutical action: Iodine in the form of a polyvinylpyrrolidone iodine complex. The concentration of active iodine is 0.1-1%. It has antiseptic, disinfectant, antifungal and antiprotozoal effects. Blocks amino groups of cellular proteins. It has a wide spectrum of antimicrobial action. Active against bacteria (including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus), fungi, viruses, protozoa. Polyvinylpyrrolidone iodine refers to iodophores that bind iodine. Upon contact with the skin and mucous membranes, iodine is gradually and evenly released, exerting a bactericidal effect on microorganisms. At the site of application, a thin colored layer remains, which remains until the entire amount of iodine is released.
Indications
Burns, abrasions, incised wounds, skin ulceration (including trophic ulcers of the lower leg), bedsores, surface-infected dermatoses; prevention of infection of wound surfaces. Nasopharyngeal infections. Fungal lesions of the genitals, trichomoniasis; bacterial vaginitis. Treatment of the patient’s skin before and after operations, biopsies, punctures, blood collection, injections, pre-and postoperative treatment of the hands of the surgeon, medical personnel, hygienic treatment of hands when caring for infected patients, processing of tools and patient care items.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Aquazan is contraindicated during pregnancy.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to iodine and other components of Aquazan, thyrotoxicosis, Duhring’s herpetiform dermatitis, thyroid adenoma, simultaneous therapy with radioactive iodine; neonatal period (especially in premature infants). With caution. CRF, pregnancy (II-III trimesters), lactation period.
Side effects
Allergic reactions.
Interaction
Pharmacologically incompatible with disinfectants containing mercury; oxidizing agents, alkali salts and acidic substances.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Externally, locally. For disinfection of the skin (baths, lubrication), a 1% solution is used. Aquazan is applied to the surface by lubrication, spray-method, in the form of a wet lining. When performing local baths and oiling, the exposure is at least 2 minutes. To treat the hands of surgical personnel,5 ml of the solution is rubbed with the palms up to the elbow for 5 minutes (water can be added to form foam), then thoroughly rinsed. The procedure is repeated twice. Infected skin and mucous membranes are treated with 10% Aquazan solution for 1-2 minutes, then the solution is thoroughly washed off.
Special instructions
Aquazan solution should not be used in combination with other antiseptics, enzymatic ointments. Before the systematic use of povidone-iodine preparations, trial use is advisable. In the presence of blood, the bactericidal effect of povidone-iodine may decrease. Avoid contact with povidone-iodine preparations in the eyes.
