Pharmacological action
Polyvalent dysentery bacteriophage is an immunobiological preparation, a phage.
Polyvalent dysentery bacteriophage causes specific lysis of Flexner’s and Sonne’s shigella, the causative agents of bacterial dysentery.
Indications
Treatment and prevention of bacterial dysentery caused by Shigella flexneri serovars 1,2,3,4,6 and Shigella sonnei
Contraindications
Individual intolerance to the drug Bacteriophage dysentery.
Polyvalent dysentery bacteriophage should be used with caution in severe forms of dysentery with pronounced intoxication phenomena, due to the possibility of increasing the latter during mass lysis of shigella, as well as antibiotics of bactericidal action.
Side effects
Introduction of polyvalent dysentery bacteriophage should not cause any reactions.
How to take, course of use and dosage
The drug is intended for oral use and rectal use.
For treatment, the drug is taken orally 3 times a day on an empty stomach 1 hour before meals from the first day of the disease for 7-10 days.

When dysentery is characterized by a mild colitic syndrome, and during convalescence, it is recommended to combine a double oral dose with a single rectal use of a single age-related dose of the drug in the form of an enema after bowel emptying.
For preventive purposes, the drug is recommended to be used during group illnesses in organized groups and families. The optimal scheme of use is a daily intake of a single age-related dose. The duration of taking the drug is determined by the conditions of the epidsituation.
