Pharmacological action
Dexpanthenol is rapidly converted in skin cells to pantothenic acid, which is a component of coenzyme A and plays an important role in both the formation and healing of damaged skin. It stimulates skin regeneration, normalizes cellular metabolism.
Pharmacokinetics
Dexpanthenol is rapidly absorbed by the skin (quickly absorbed) and converted to pantothenic acid.
It binds to plasma proteins (mainly albumin and β-globulin).
Pantothenic acid is not metabolized in the body and is excreted unchanged.
Indications
Bepanthen is used in adults and children for:
– violation of the integrity of the skin: the healing of burns (including solar), small skin lesions (abrasions, cuts, cracks, etc. ); – prevention and treatment of dry skin, including as a result of dermatitis of various origin;- daily care for areas of skin that are most susceptible to influence of external factors (face, hands);- breast care during lactation (cracks and redness of the nipples of the breast);- care for children and children (diaper rash, diaper dermatitis).
