Pharmacological action
Mupirocin is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic for topical use.
It affects the causative agents of skin infections: staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin-resistant strains), staphylococcus epidermidis, staphylococcus saprophyticus and streptococcus pyogenes (including coagulase-negative ones).
It is not cross-resistant with chloramphenicol, erythromycin, fusidic acid, gentamicin, lincomycin, methicillin, neomycin, streptomycin, tetracycline.
Indications
Primary and secondary infectious skin lesions caused by mupirocin-sensitive microorganisms, including: : – primary skin infections-pyoderma (streptoderma, staphyloderma): impetigo, sycosis, folliculitis, furunculosis (including furuncles of the external auditory canal and auricle), actime;
– secondary infection — infected eczema, infected atopic, contact and allergic dermatitis, infected wounds (abrasions, cuts, scratches, insect bites), trophic ulcers, minor (not requiring hospitalization) of wounds and burns;
– prevention of bacterial lesions and their complications resulting from minor wounds, cuts, bedsores.
Contraindications
-hypersensitivity to any component of the drug Bonderm;
– children under 3 years of age.
With caution: renal failure (see “Special instructions”).
Side effects
Bonderm ® ointment is well tolerated.
Very rarely, burning, itching and dryness are observed at the site of application of the drug. Allergic skin reactions (swelling at the site of application, rash) to mupirocin or the base of the ointment were rarely observed.
When using the ointment, generalized allergic reactions have been reported in isolated cases.
Interaction
Concomitant use with other topical medications should be avoided, as this may reduce the antibacterial activity or stability of mupirocin in the ointment.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Externally. A small amount of Bonderm ® ointment is applied to the affected skin surface 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is up to 10 days, depending on the severity of the lesion. If there is no clinical effect after 5 days of treatment, it is recommended to review the diagnosis and further treatment tactics, taking into account the dynamics of clinical indicators.
Bonderm ® ointment can be applied using an aseptic dressing or applied under an occlusive dressing. Children and elderly patients. No restrictions are required. Impaired liver function. No correction required. Impaired renal function. See “With caution”.
Overdose
No overdose cases have been reported so far.
Special instructions
Macrogol, which is part of the Bonderm ointment for external use, is absorbed from open wounds and damaged skin and is excreted from the body by the kidneys, so patients with severe chronic renal failure should use the drug with caution on large areas of the skin.
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. If the ointment gets into the eyes and mucous membranes, it is recommended to rinse them thoroughly with water until the remaining ointment is completely removed.
In rare cases of allergic reactions or significant skin irritation when applying Bonderm ointment, treatment should be discontinued, the affected area should be washed with water to remove the remaining ointment and alternative antibacterial therapy should be prescribed. Influence on the ability to drive a car or perform work that requires an increased rate of physical and mental reactions. No adverse effects on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms were observed.
