Composition

1 capsule contains:  Active substance:

chondroitin sulfate 250 g;

Auxiliary substances:

milk sugar (lactose),

calcium stearate;

Hard gelatin capsules:

gelatin,

water,

sodium lauryl sulfate,

methylparaben,

propylparaben;

The dye:

titanium dioxide (E 171).

Pharmacological action

Chondroitin performs several functions in the body:

• It is part of the cartilage, giving it elasticity and shock-absorbing properties due to water retention in the tissue (loss of chondroitin in the cartilage is the main cause of osteoarthritis).
• Increasing the strength of the connective tissue of the ligamentous apparatus (relevant in bodybuilding and powerlifting).
• Inhibition of the activity of enzymes that destroy connective tissue (elastases, peptidases, etc. )
• Elimination or reduction of chronic joint pain associated with inflammation and degenerative processes
• Cartilage regeneration (relevant for people involved in bodybuilding and other heavy sports).
• It is a part of the synovial fluid, which provides sliding of the articular surfaces, as well as nourishes the cartilage
• Improving skin properties

Indications

The medicine is used for degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the joints and spine:  primary osteoarthritis, osteoarthritis, periodontal disease, intervertebral osteochondrosis, osteoporosis, bone fractures (for the purpose of rapid callus formation).

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Chondroitin.
• Pregnancy.
• Lactation period.

With caution:  

Bleeding and tendency to bleed, thrombophlebitis. In childhood, the effectiveness and safety of long-term use of the drug have not been established.

Side effects

From the digestive system:  rarely – nausea, vomiting.

Other services:  rarely-allergic reactions.

Interaction

Concomitant use of Chondroitin with other medications may increase the effect of indirect anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, and fibrinolytics.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside, washed down with water.

Adults are prescribed 750 mg (3 capsules) 2 times a day for the first 3 weeks, then 500 mg (2 capsules) — 2 times a day.

The recommended duration of the initial course of treatment is 6 months, the period of action of the drug after its withdrawal is 3-5 months, depending on the localization and stage of the disease, the duration of repeated courses of treatment is set by the doctor.

Special instructions

Caution should be exercised when prescribing to patients with bleeding disorders, as well as to patients with a tendency to bleed.
