Composition

Active ingredient

gonadotropin chorionic 5000 units;

Excipients

mannitol (mannitol).

5 vials of the drug in a contour cell package and 5 ampoules 1 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution for injection in a contour cell package together with instructions for using the drug and solvent are placed in a cardboard box.

Pharmacological action

• The drug has a gonadotropic effect, mainly luteinizing;

• Stimulates the synthesis of sex hormones in the ovaries and testicles;

• Stimulates ovulation in women and spermatogenesis in men;

• Enhances the development of genitals and secondary sexual characteristics.

Indications

Hypofunction of the genital glands in men and women, due to a violation of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland.

In women: anovulatory infertility, insufficiency of the corpus luteum (in the presence of estrogenic ovarian function), induction of superovulation during assisted reproductive techniques, habitual miscarriage, threatening spontaneous miscarriage.

In men: hypogenitalism, eunuchoidism; testicular hypoplasia, cryptorchidism; adiposogenital syndrome, pituitary nanism, sexual infantilism; oligoasthenospermia, azoospermia.

For the purpose of differential diagnosis of cryptorchidism and anarchism in boys and for evaluation of testicular function in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, pituitary gland tumor, hormone-active tumors of the sex glands (including androgen-dependent ones), absence of the sex glands (congenital or after surgery), early onset of menopause, thrombophlebitis, lactation, ovarian cancer, hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency, hyperprolactinemia, fallopian tube obstruction.

With caution: adolescence, coronary heart disease, arterial hypertension, chronic renal failure, bronchial asthma, migraines.

Side effects

Local reactions (pain at the injection site, hyperemia);

Allergic reactions.

Headache;

Increased fatigue;

Irritability.

Anxiety;

Depression.

Suppression of pituitary gonadotropic function.

In women with combined infertility treatment (in combination with menotropins and clomiphene) – ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.

In men: fluid retention, edema, hypersensitivity of the nipples of the mammary glands, gynecomastia, enlarged testicles in the inguinal canal (with cryptorchidism). As a result of long-term use of the drug in men, a decrease in the number of spermatozoa in the ejaculate was found.

Interaction

 Chorionic gonadotropin is used in combination with menopausal gonadotropin in the treatment of infertility.

How to take, course of use and dosage

The drug is prescribed intramuscularly.

Women for ovulation induction – 5000-10000 units at a time, for stimulation of the yellow body function-1500-5000 units for 3-6-9 days after ovulation.

For the induction of superovulation during assisted reproductive measures – up to 10,000 units once after the induction of multiple follicle growth, which is achieved as a result of stimulation according to the established scheme. Egg sampling is performed 34-36 hours after use.

With the usual miscarriage of pregnancy, the introduction begins immediately after the pregnancy is diagnosed (but not later than 8 weeks) and continues until the 14th week of pregnancy inclusive: on 1 day – 10000 units, then 5000 UNITS 2 times a week.

If there is a threat of spontaneous miscarriage (if symptoms appear in the first 8 weeks of pregnancy) – 10,000 units initially, then 5000 units 2 times a week until the 14th week of pregnancy inclusive. In case of delayed sexual development of boys-3000-5000 IU 1 time a week for at least 3 months.

For men-500-2000 units 1 time a day 2-3 times a week for 1.5-3 months.

For hypogonadotropic hypogonadism: 1500-6000 units (in combination with menotropins) 1 time a week. For the purpose of differential diagnosis of cryptorchidism and anarchism in boys and to assess testicular function in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, once-5000 UNITS.

For cryptorchidism: under the age of 6 years-500-1000 units 2 times a week for 6 weeks; older than 6 years-1500 units 2 times a week for 6 weeks.

For idiopathic normogonadotropic oligospermia-5000 units weekly for 3 months together with menotropins. For oligo-and asthenospermia caused by relative androgen deficiency-2500 units every 5 days or 10000 UNITS 1 time in 2 weeks for 3 months.

Overdose

With an overdose of the drug, women may experience a syndrome of ovarian hyperstimulation with an increase in their size due to ovarian cysts with the risk of their rupture, the appearance of ascites and hydrothorax.

Its appearance may be indicated by symptoms such as a feeling of tension and abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, and weight gain.

Treatment is symptomatic.

Special instructions

• In men, the drug is ineffective with a high content of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).

• With prolonged treatment or use in large doses in male adolescents with impaired physical and sexual development, premature puberty is possible.

• Unreasonably prolonged use of the drug in cryptorchidism, especially if surgery is indicated, can lead to degeneration of the genital glands.

• Inhibition of FSH production due to stimulation of androgen and estrogen production contributes to atrophy of the seminal tubules. Prolonged use may lead to the formation of antibodies to the drug. Increases the likelihood of multiple pregnancies.

• There may be erroneous results when using a pregnancy test during treatment with the drug and within 7 days after its cancellation.
