1 ml of HILO-KOMOD® solution contains:
Sodium hyaluronate (sodium salt of hyaluronic acid) – 1 mg
Citric acid anhydrous, sodium citrate dihydrate, sorbitol, water for injection.
Pharmacological action
The medical device “HILO-KOMOD® solution moisturizing ophthalmic beskonservantny” (“Hilo” – from Lat. hyaluronic acid is a sterile, isotonic 0.1% aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate, free of preservatives, in its original container (KOMOD®system).
The hyaluronic acid contained in the HILO-KOMOD® solution (in the form of a sodium salt) is a natural substance. Sodium hyaluronate is a physiological polysaccharide compound found in both eye tissues and other human body tissues and fluids. A special physicochemical property of sodium hyaluronate molecules is their pronounced ability to bind water molecules.
An aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate (HILO-KOMOD®) has the necessary viscosity and high adhesive properties in relation to the anterior surface of the eye (cornea), due to which the solution of HILO-KOMOD® forms a uniform, long-lasting pre-corneal tear film on the surface of the cornea, which does not wash off when blinking and does not cause a decrease in visual acuity. Thus, the eye is permanently protected from the feeling of dryness and irritation that often occur in contact with the environment, as well as when wearing contact lenses.
The use of HILO-KOMOD ® solution makes wearing contact lenses more comfortable, while the HILO-KOMOD® solution is not deposited on the surface of the lenses. The HILO-KOMOD ® solution is placed in the original KOMOD ® container, which is a complex system of tanks and valves that guarantees no external air penetration and ensures the extraction of identical drops in size, regardless of the degree of effort applied.
The metal parts and valves of the container in contact with the HILO-KOMOD solution are partially coated with a thin layer of silver, which, together with the absolute tightness of the system, ensures the sterility of the HILO-KOMOD® solution in the absence of preservatives during long-term use.
This eliminates possible undesirable effects of preservatives on eye tissues and ensures good tolerability of the HILO-KOMOD ® solution, even with prolonged use.
Indications
- For additional moistening of the anterior surface of the eye (cornea and conjunctiva) with a feeling of ” dryness”, a feeling of a foreign body in the eye, burning in the eyes.
- For moistening the anterior surface of the eye after ophthalmic surgical operations, as well as for corneal injuries and injuries.
- To eliminate discomfort when wearing contact lenses.

Side effects
In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions are possible, such as burning or increased lacrimation. All effects stop immediately when the HILO-KOMOD ® solution is discontinued.

After full use of the contents, you should purchase a new filled container with HILO-KOMOD® solution, as the system is not intended for reuse.
There are no restrictions on the duration of application of the HILO-KOMOD solution.
How to use and recommendations when wearing contact lenses
The KOMOD® system is intended for individual use only.
Before each instillation, the patient should wash their hands thoroughly and follow the step-by-step recommendations below.
How to use and recommendations when wearing contact lenses
Step 1. Before each instillation, remove the cap.
Step 2. Before using HILO-KOMOD® solution for the first time, turn the container upside down with the dropper and press the base of the container several times until the first drop appears on the tip of the dropper. After that, the system is ready for use. Hold the bottle upside down, placing your thumb near the neck of the bottle, and the rest of your fingers on the bottom of the bottle.
Step 3. Support the hand holding the container with the other hand, as shown in the picture.
Step 4. Tilt your head back a little, draw the lower eyelid back slightly with your finger and press hard and vigorously on the center of the base of the bottle. In this way, the dropper mechanism is activated and only one drop of the solution is extracted. Thanks to the special design of the valves in the KOMOD® system, the size of the drop and its extraction rate remain the same even with very strong pressure on the base of the container. Slowly close your eyes, allowing the liquid to spread evenly over the surface of your eye.
Step 5. Immediately after the procedure is completed, put the cap firmly on the dropper. Make sure that the dropper is dry. When instilling, avoid contact of the tip of the dropper with the surface of the eye and skin. The KOMOD® system that comes into circulation contains 10 ml of the solution, which is equivalent to approximately 300 drops. For technical reasons, a small amount remains in the bottle after the manufacturer’s guaranteed contents are removed.
HILO-KOMOD ® solution is compatible with contact lenses.
While wearing contact lenses, you can instill HILO-KOMOD® solution into the conjunctival sac without removing the lenses.
