Pharmacological action
CORTICOSTEROIDS for topical use in ophthalmology. It has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and desensitizing effect. Dexamethasone actively suppresses inflammatory processes, inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators by eosinophils, mast cell migration, and reducing capillary permeability.
The drug does not have mineralocorticoid activity.

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
- Viral, bacterial and fungal infections of the eyes.
- Diseases of the cornea in combination with epithelial defects.
Side effects
From the side of the organ of vision: with prolonged topical application of corticosteroids, there may be: increased intraocular pressure with possible subsequent development of glaucoma; formation of posterior subcapsular cataracts; slowing of the wound healing process (in diseases that cause thinning of the cornea or sclera, perforation of the fibrous membrane is possible).
After the use of drugs containing corticosteroids, the development of a secondary infection (including fungal) may occur, as a result of the suppression of the patient’s protective reaction.
In acute purulent diseases of the eye, corticosteroids can mask or enhance the existing infectious process. The appearance of non-healing ulcers on the cornea after prolonged treatment with steroid drugs may indicate the development of fungal invasion.
