Composition
Methyluracil as an Active ingredient 10 g and an ointment base (medical vaseline, water lanolin) up to 100 g.
Pharmacological action
It has anabolic and anti-catabolic activity, accelerates the processes of cellular regeneration.
Indications
Flaccid wounds, burns (thermal, chemical, radiation), photodermatitis. Methyluracil can be used for prophylactic purposes to prevent skin reactions when irradiating neoplasms with low radiosensitivity, reduce radioepithelitis and late fusion of the walls (occlusions) of the vagina – in the case of radiation therapy for genital neoplasms.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, excessive granulation.
Side effects
Allergic reactions, headache, dizziness, short-term burning sensation.
Interaction
Methyluracil ointment is compatible with external applications of sulfonamides, antibiotics and antiseptics.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Externally: the ointment is applied daily to the damaged areas for 5-10 g daily for 15-30 days. The ointment is used in loose tampons for radiation dermatitis and late radiation damage to the vagina.
