Pharmacological action
Orthophen has an anti-inflammatory, analgesic effect.
Inhibits the synthesis of PG, reduces pain, swelling and hyperemia of tissues.
Indications
-Diseases of the musculoskeletal system: rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis of the peripheral joints and spine.
– Rheumatic soft tissue lesions.
– Muscle pain of rheumatic and non-rheumatic origin.
– Traumatic soft tissue injuries.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The drug should not be used in the third trimester of pregnancy.
There is no experience of using Diclofenac during lactation.
Use in the first and second trimesters is only possible after consulting a doctor.
Contraindications
-Hypersensitivity to diclofenac, methylsalicylate or other components of the drug, acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs. – “Aspirin” asthma. – Pregnancy (third trimester). – Lactation period. – Children’s age (up to 6 years). – Violation of the integrity of the skin. With caution: Â – Hepatic porphyria (exacerbation). – Erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract. – Severe liver and kidney function disorders. – Chronic heart failure. – Bronchial asthma. – Advanced age. – Children under 12 years of age. – Pregnancy of the first and second trimester.
Side effects
Local reactions: Â eczema, photosensitivity, contact dermatitis (itching, redness, swelling of the treated skin area, papules, vesicles, peeling).
Systemic reactions: Â generalized skin rash, allergic reactions (urticaria, angioedema, bronchospastic reactions), photosensitization.
Interaction
Orthophen can enhance the effect of drugs that cause photosensitization.
No clinically significant interactions with other medicinal products have been described.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Externally. For adults and children over 6 years of age, the drug is applied to the skin 3-4 times a day and lightly rubbed.
The required amount of the drug depends on the size of the painful area.
A single dose of the drug is 2 g. (which is comparable in volume to the size of a cherry, respectively). The duration of treatment without consulting a doctor should not exceed 10 days.
Overdose
Extremely low systemic absorption of the active components of the drug with external use makes overdose almost impossible.
Special instructions
Orthophen should only be applied to undamaged skin, avoiding contact with open wounds.
After application, do not apply an occlusive dressing.
Do not allow the drug to get on the eyes and mucous membranes.
