Fainting, disinfection of the skin of the hands, neutralization of acidic toxins from insect bites.
By inhalation, externally.
To stimulate breathing and bring patients out of fainting – by inhalation: carefully bring a small piece of cotton wool or gauze moistened with ammonia to the nasal openings (0.5-1 cm).
In surgical practice, it is used to disinfect the skin of hands according to the method of S. I. Spasokukotsky and I. G. Kochergin (to prepare a solution,25 ml of ammonia is dissolved in 5 liters of warm boiled water).
When insect bites are used in the form of lotions.
Hypersensitivity; when applied externally-violation of the integrity of the skin, inflammatory skin diseases (including dermatitis, eczema) and other skin diseases at the site of the intended application.

Analeptic, antiseptic agent; when inhaled, it irritates the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract and reflexively excites the respiratory and vasomotor centers. In high concentrations, it causes reflex respiratory arrest.
It has a disinfecting effect on the skin. With prolonged contact, the irritating effect on the skin can turn into cauterizing (protein coagulation) with the development of hyperemia, swelling and soreness.
