Open-angle glaucoma and increased intraocular pressure.
In the conjunctival meschok of the affected eye,1 drop is instilled 1 time a day, in the evening.
If a dose is missed, the next dose is not doubled, but is administered as usual.
The drug should be used with caution in patients with aphakia, pseudoaphakia with rupture of the posterior lens capsule, in patients with known risk factors for macular edema (cases of macular edema, including cystoid edema, have been described during treatment with latanoprost), in patients with inflammatory, neovascular or congenital glaucoma (due to lack of sufficient experience with the drug).

Anti-glaucoma drug. An analog of prostaglandin F2a and a selective agonist of FP-receptors. Reduces intraocular pressure uvelichevaya outflow of aqueous humor, mainly along the uveoscleral pathway, as well as through the trabecular network. It has no significant effect on the production of aqueous humor and does not affect the blood-ophthalmic barrier. A decrease in intraocular pressure begins 3-4 hours after use of the drug, the maximum effect is noted in 8-12 hours, the action continues for at least 24 hours
. Pharmacokinetics
It penetrates well through the cornea, while hydrolysis occurs to a biologically active form. The time to reach the maximum concentration (TC max) in aqueous humor is 2 hours after topical application.
In the tissues of the eye, latanoprost acid is practically not metabolized; metabolism occurs mainly in the liver. The elimination half-life (T 1/2 ) is 17 minutes. The main metabolites,1,2-dinor – and 1,2,3,4-tetranormetabodites, have no or weak biological activity.
It is excreted by the kidneys.
Open-angle glaucoma and increased intraocular pressure.
Glauprost is contraindicated in children (under 18 years of age).
The use of Glauprost during pregnancy is possible only under the supervision of a doctor and only if the expected benefit to the mother exceeds the risk of possible side effects in the fetus.
Latanoprost and its metabolites can be excreted in breast milk. If it is necessary to prescribe Glauprost during lactation, stop breastfeeding.
From the side of the visual organ Eye irritation (itching, burning sensation, sand sensation in the eyes, tingling and foreign body sensation), eye pain, blepharitis, conjunctival hyperemia, eyelid edema, corneal edema and erosion, increased iris pigmentation, transient point erosion of the epithelium, conjunctivitis; lengthening, thickening, increasing the number and strengthening of pigmentation of the eyelashes and downy hair, changing the direction of eyelash growth, sometimes causing eye irritation, blurred vision, iritis/uveitis, keratitis, macular edema (including cystoid edema),.
On the part of the respiratory system, Bronchial asthma (including acute attacks or exacerbation of the disease in patients with a history of bronchial asthma), shortness of breath. Dermatological reactions Rash, darkening of the skin of the eyelids and local skin reactions from the eyelids.
Musculoskeletal system disorders: Muscle pain, joint pain.
Nervous system disorders: Dizziness, headache. Other non-specific chest pain.
Pharmacologically incompatible with eye drops containing thiomersal-precipitation.
Simultaneous instillation of two prostaglandin analogues can cause a paradoxical increase in intraocular pressure.
When prescribing combination therapy, eye drops of various medications should be administered at intervals of at least 5 minutes.
In the conjunctival meschok of the affected eye,1 drop is instilled 1 time a day, in the evening.
If a dose is missed, the next dose is not doubled, but is administered as usual.
Symptoms: irritation of the eye mucosa, hyperemia of the conjunctiva or episclera.
Treatment: symptomatic.
Causes a gradual change in eye color due to an increase in the amount of brown pigment in the iris. This effect is detected mainly in patients with mixed color of the iris, for example, blue-brown, gray-brown, green-brown or yellow-brown, which is explained by an increase in the content of melanin in the stromal melanocytes of the iris. Usually, brown pigmentation spreads concentrically around the pupil to the periphery of the iris, and the entire iris or parts of it may turn a more intense brown color. In case of intense changes in eye pigmentation, therapy is discontinued.
In patients with evenly colored eyes of blue, gray, green or brown color, changes in eye color after 2 years of using the drug are very rare. The resulting discoloration may be irreversible. Before starting treatment, patients should be informed about the possibility of changing eye color.
The drug contains benzalkonium chloride, which can be absorbed by contact lenses. Before instilling eye drops, contact lenses should be removed; lenses can only be inserted 15 minutes after instillation.
Latanoprost can cause gradual changes in the eyelashes and downy hair, such as lengthening, thickening, increasing pigmentation, increasing density, and changing the direction of lash growth. Changes to the eyelashes are reversible and disappear after treatment is stopped.
Patients who use drops in only one eye may develop heterochromia.
Influence on the ability to drive motor vehicles and manage mechanisms
Patients who experience temporary blurred vision after applying eye drops are not recommended to drive vehicles or work with mechanisms until it is restored.
