Pharmacological properties

Replenishes magnesium deficiency.

Magnesium is a vital element that is found in all body tissues and is essential for the normal functioning of cells. It is involved in most metabolic reactions, in regulating the transmission of nerve impulses and in muscle contraction, has antispasmodic, antiarrhythmic and antiplatelet effects.

The body receives magnesium along with food. A lack of magnesium in the body can occur with a violation of the diet (diet) or with an increase in the need for magnesium (with increased physical and mental stress, stress, pregnancy, the use of diuretics).

Pyridoxine (vitamin_B6) is involved in many metabolic processes, in regulating the metabolism of the nervous system. Vitamin_B6 improves the absorption of magnesium from the gastrointestinal tract and its penetration into cells.

Serum magnesium content:

– from 12 to 17 mg / l (0.5-0.7 mmol/l) indicates moderate magnesium deficiency.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption of magnesium in the gastrointestinal tract is 50% of the oral dose. It is excreted mainly through the kidneys. In the kidneys, after glomerular filtration,70% of the magnesium present in the plasma is reabsorbed by the renal tubules in the proportion of 95% – 97%.

Indications

Established magnesium deficiency, isolated or associated with other deficient conditions, accompanied by symptoms such as: increased irritability; minor sleep disturbances; gastrointestinal spasms; rapid heartbeat; increased fatigue; muscle pain and spasms, tingling sensation in the muscles.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Pregnancy

Clinical experience has not revealed fetotoxic or fetal malformations. Magnelis® _B6 can be used during pregnancy only as prescribed by a doctor.

Breast-feeding period

Magnesium passes into breast milk. Avoid using the drug during breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml / min), sucrose/isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption.

Children’s age – up to 6 years.

With caution: in moderate renal failure, as there is a risk of hypermagnesemia.

Side effects

Interaction

How to take, course of use and dosage

Before taking the drug, you should consult your doctor.

Adults are recommended to take 6-8 tablets per day.

Children over 6 years of age (body weight more than 20 kg) 4-6 tablets per day.

the daily dose should be divided into 2-3 doses, taken with a meal, washed down with a glass of water.

Treatment should be discontinued after normalization of the concentration of magnesium in the blood.

Overdose

With normal renal function, oral magnesium intake does not cause toxic reactions. Magnesium poisoning can occur with kidney failure. Toxic effects mainly depend on the content of magnesium in the blood serum.

Symptoms of overdose: drop in blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, slow reflexes, anuria, respiratory depression, coma, cardiac arrest.

Treatment: rehydration, forced diuresis. In case of renal failure, hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis is necessary.

Special instructions

Information for diabetic patients: tablets contain sucrose as an auxiliary substance.

In the case of concomitant calcium deficiency, magnesium deficiency should be eliminated before starting calcium supplements.

With frequent use of laxatives, alcohol, strenuous physical and mental stress, the need for magnesium increases, which can lead to the development of magnesium deficiency in the body.
