Composition

Composition per tablet:

• active ingredient:
• marshmallow medicinal herb extract (mukaltin) – 50.0 mg;
• excipients:
• tartaric acid-43.25 mg,
• calcium phosphate 2-substituted anhydrous (calcium hydrophosphate anhydrous) – 179.75 mg,
• crospovidone (crospovidone CL-M) – 21.0 mg,
• povidone (polyvinylpyrrolidone low molecular weight medical, povidone K 17) – 3.0 mg,
• calcium stearate-3.0 mg

Pharmacological action

Product of plant origin.

Marshmallow root contains plant mucus (up to 35%), asparagine, betaine, pectin substances, starch.

It has an enveloping, softening, expectorant, anti-inflammatory effect.

Vegetable mucus covers the mucous membranes with a thin layer that remains on the surface for a long time and protects them from irritation.

As a result, the inflammatory process is reduced and spontaneous tissue regeneration is facilitated.

When exposed to the gastric mucosa, the protective effect of the film of vegetable mucus is longer and more effective, the higher the acidity of gastric juice (the viscosity of vegetable mucus increases when it comes into contact with hydrochloric acid).

Indications

Diseases of the respiratory tract (including laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, bronchial asthma), gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, children under 12 years of age.

Side effects

Possible allergic reactions.

Interaction

Mukaltin can be prescribed simultaneously with other medications used in the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases.

Mucaltin should not be used concomitantly with drugs containing codeine and other antitussive medications, as this makes it difficult to cough up thin sputum.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside 1-2 tablets before meals 3 times a day.

The course of treatment is on average 7-14 days.

Children can dissolve the tablet in 1/3 cup of warm water.

Special instructions

The formation of a film of plant mucus on the surface of the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract gives not only a pronounced therapeutic effect, but also contributes to a longer local effect of other drugs.

As an expectorant, marshmallow preparations can be used in combination with sodium bicarbonate.
