Composition

Active ingredient:  Naftifine hydrochloride – 10.0 mg. Auxiliary substances:  propylene glycol-50.0 mg, ethanol (95% ethyl alcohol) – 400.0 mg, purified water-up to 1 ml

Pharmacological action

Mycoderil® is an antifungal drug for external use, the active ingredient of which is Naftifine. Naftifine is an antifungal agent belonging to the class of alylamines. The mechanism of action is associated with the inhibition of squalene-2,3-epoxidase, which leads to a decrease in the formation of ergosterol, which is part of the cell wall of the fungus. Naphthifine, affecting squalene oxidase, does not affect the cytochrome P-450 system.

Naftifine is active against dermatophytes such as Trichophyton, Epidermophyton, Microsporum, yeast and yeast-like fungi (Candidaspp., Pityrosporum), mold fungi (Aspergillus) and other fungi (e. g., Sporothrixschenckii). Naftifine acts as a fungicide against dermatophytes and aspergillus.

In relation to yeast fungi, the drug exhibits fungicidal or fungistatic activity, depending on the strain of the microorganism. Naftifine has antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms that cause secondary bacterial infections.

Naftifine has an anti-inflammatory effect, which helps to quickly eliminate the symptoms of inflammation, especially itching.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied externally, Naftifine quickly penetrates the skin, creating stable antifungal concentrations in its various layers, which makes it possible to use it once a day.

Indications

• Fungal infections of smooth skin and skin folds (tinea corporis, tinea inquinalis);
• interdigital mycoses (tinea manum, tinea pedum);
• fungal infections of the nails (onychomycosis);
• candidiasis of the skin;
• pityriasis versicolor;
• inflammatory dermatomycosis (with or without itching).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation is contraindicated (the safety and efficacy of the drug in this category of patients has not been studied).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Naftifine or propylene glycol; pregnancy and lactation (the safety and efficacy of the drug in this category of patients has not been studied). Application of the drug to the wound surface is contraindicated.

Use caution in children (limited clinical experience).

Side effects

In some cases, local reactions may occur: dry skin, hyperemia of the skin and burning. Side effects are reversible and do not require discontinuation of treatment. If any of the side effects listed in the instructions get worse, or any other side effects that are not listed in the instructions are noted, you should immediately inform your doctor.

Interaction

Interactions with other drugs have not been studied.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Externally. For dermatomycosis and candidiasis of the skin. Micoderil®, a spray for external use,1% is applied once a day to the affected skin surface and adjacent areas after thorough cleaning and drying, capturing approximately 1 cm of healthy skin along the edges of the affected area. Duration of treatment: for dermatomycosis-2-4 weeks (if necessary-up to 8 weeks), for candidiasis-4 weeks. For nail lesions (onychomycosis). Before the first application of the drug, the affected part of the nail is removed as much as possible with scissors and a nail file. The drug is used 2 times a day, the duration of treatment for onychomycosis is up to 6 months. To prevent recurrence of infection, the drug should continue to be used for at least 2 weeks after the disappearance of clinical symptoms. If there is no improvement after treatment, or if the symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear, you should consult your doctor. Use the drug only according to the indications, the method of use and in the doses indicated in the instructions for use.

Overdose

No overdose cases have been reported.

Mycoderyl®, a spray for external use,1% is effective in the treatment of mycoses affecting areas of the skin with hyperkeratosis, as well as in areas of hair growth. Course treatment is required. Avoid contact with eyes and open wounds. Paediatric use Caution should be exercised when using the drug in children.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms

Micoderyl®, spray for external use,1% does not adversely affect the ability to drive vehicles and perform other activities that require concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Storage conditions

At a temperature not exceeding 25 °C in the original packaging (bottle in a cardboard pack). Keep out of reach of children.
