Pharmacodynamics :

Phenylephrine hydrochloride is an alpha-adrenomimetic has a local vasoconstrictor effect that helps reduce exudation, tissue swelling and itching in the anorectal area.

Indications

As a symptomatic treatment for hemorrhoids anal pruritus anal fissures.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

There is no sufficient experience in using the drug during pregnancy.

It can be used for the treatment of pregnant and lactating mothers as prescribed by the attending physician if the potential benefit to the mother exceeds the possible risk to the fetus and child.

Contraindications

Side effects

Interaction

How to take, course of use and dosage

The drug should be used after hygiene procedures. Rectally,1 suppository in the morning at night and after each bowel movement up to 4 times a day for 7-14 days.

The suppository should be inserted so that it remains in the anal canal (at the level of the anus) without completely sinking into the rectum. The base of the suppository should be held with a gauze cloth for several minutes until it is completely dissolved.

Overdose

Prolonged or excessive topical use of phenylephrine can lead to nervous system disorders such as nervousness.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Special instructions

It is not recommended to use in children under 12 years of age, during pregnancy and lactation without consulting a doctor.

In case of bleeding, deterioration of the condition, or if there is no effect within 7 days, it is necessary to stop using the drug and seek medical advice.

It should not be used in combination with antihypertensive drugs and MAO inhibitors.
