Indications

Treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

Contraindications

• severe liver and kidney dysfunction, severe psychosis
• angle-closure glaucoma
• hypersensitivity to Tidomet forte.

Interaction

Concomitant use of levodopa with beta-adrenostimulants, ditilin and drugs for inhalation anesthesia may increase the risk of heart rhythm disorders; with tricyclic antidepressants – a decrease in the bioavailability of levodopa; with diazepam, clozapine, phenytoin, clonidine, m-holinoblockers, antipsychotic drugs (neuroleptics) – derivatives of butyrophenone, diphenylbutylpiperidine antiparkinsonian effect may be reduced with pyridoxine, papaverine, and reserpine; the risk of dyskinesia and hallucinations may increase with lithium preparations; and the side effect may worsen with methyldopa. When levodopa is co-administered with MAO inhibitors (with the exception of MAO type B inhibitors), circulatory disorders may occur (MAO inhibitors should be discontinued 2 weeks in advance). This is due to the accumulation of dopamine and norepinephrine under the influence of levodopa, the inactivation of which is inhibited by MAO inhibitors, and a high probability of arousal, increased blood pressure, tachycardia, facial redness and dizziness. In patients receiving levodopa, the use of tubocurarin increases the risk of a significant decrease in blood pressure. Iron salts may reduce the bioavailability of levodoa and carbidopa; the clinical significance of this interaction is unknown. Although metoclopramide increases the bioavailability of levodopa by speeding up gastric emptying, it can nevertheless adversely affect disease control due to its antagonism with dopamine receptors.

How to take, course of use and dosage

Inside,1/4 tablet (250 mg / 25 mg) 2-3 times / day, then the dose is increased by 1/4 tablet every 2-3 days until the optimal effect is achieved. Usually, the optimal effect is noted at a dose of 1-2 tablets (250 mg/25 mg) per day.

The maximum daily dose is 1.5 g of levodopa and 150 mg of carbidopa (6 tablets of 250 mg/25 mg).
