Composition

Active ingredient: heparin sodium-1000 ME; excipients: carbomer (carbopol 980 NF) – 11.0 mg, levomentol-0.5 mg, methyl parahydroxybenzoate-1.5 mg, propyl parahydroxybenzoate-0.5 mg, ethanol-100.0 mg, trollamine (triethanolamine) – up to pH 5.5 to 7.5, purified water-up to 1 g

Pharmacological action

Pharmacodynamics : Direct-acting anticoagulant, belongs to the group of medium-molecular-weight heparins. When applied externally, it has a local antithrombotic, anti-exudative, moderate anti-inflammatory effect. Blocks the formation of thrombin, inhibits the activity of hyaluronidase, activates the fibrinolytic properties of blood. Gradually released from the ointment and passing through the skin, heparin reduces the inflammatory process and has an antithrombotic effect, improves microcirculation and activates tissue metabolism, thereby accelerating the resorption of hematomas and blood clots and reducing tissue swelling.

Indications

Prevention and treatment of superficial venous thrombophlebitis, post-injection and post-infusion phlebitis, hemorrhoids (including postpartum), elephantiasis, superficial periflebitis, lymphangitis, superficial mastitis, localized infiltrates and edema, injuries and bruises (including muscle tissue, tendons, joints), subcutaneous hematoma.

Recommendations for use

Externally: a column of gel or ointment 3-10 cm long (0.5-1 g) is applied to the affected area (3-5 cm in diameter) 1-3 times a day. Rectally, with hemorrhoid vein thrombosis: rectal tampons or calico pads with applied ointment are applied directly to the pinched nodes and fixed with a bandage. For the same purpose, you can use a tampon soaked in ointment, which is inserted into the anus. The course lasts 3-4 days. In the case of a shin ulcer, carefully lubricate the inflamed skin around the ulcer. The ointment is applied 2-3 times a day, daily, until the inflammatory phenomena disappear (on average, from 3 to 7 days, the possibility of a longer course of treatment is determined by the doctor).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, ulcerative-necrotic processes, traumatic violation of the integrity of the skin.

Side effects

Hyperemia of the skin, allergic reactions.

Interaction

Do not prescribe topically at the same time as NSAIDs, tetracyclines, antihistamines.

Overdose

Due to low systemic absorption, overdose is unlikely. To date, the phenomena of overdose when using heparin gel have not been described. Prolonged use on large surfaces can lead to hemorrhagic complications. Treatment: discontinuation of the drug. If necessary, use a heparin antagonist – protamine sulfate (1% solution).

Special instructions

Do not apply on open wounds, on mucous membranes, in the presence of purulent processes. The use of the ointment is not recommended for deep venous thrombosis.
