Pharmacological action
Troxymethacin gel is a combination drug for topical use, which includes Indometacin and troxerutin. Indometacin has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-edematous effect, leading to pain relief, reduction of edema and shortening the recovery time of affected tissues. The main mechanism of action is associated with the suppression of prostaglandin synthesis by reversible blockade of cyclooxygenase 1 and 2. Troxerutin (trihydroxyethylrutinoside) is a bioflavonoid. It has an angioprotective effect. Reduces capillary permeability and has a venotonic effect. Blocks the venodilating effect of histamine, bradykinin and acetylcholine. It has an anti-inflammatory effect on the parovenous tissue, reduces the fragility of capillaries and has some antiplatelet effect. Reduces puffiness, improves trophism in various pathological changes associated with venous insufficiency. Troxymethacin gel, when applied to the skin, suppresses the inflammatory edematous reaction, reduces pain and temperature in the foci of inflammation located on the surface and in depth, reaching the blood vessels located there. It has a pronounced venotonizing, capillaroprotective effect.

How to take, course of use and dosage
Troxymethacin gel is applied topically. 3-4 times a day by rubbing a thin layer of gel into the skin of painful areas of the body. The amount required for one rub is about 4-5 cm of the gel squeezed out of the tube. The total daily amount should not exceed 20 cm of gel. The duration of treatment should not exceed 10 days.
Overdose
There are no reports of overdose cases when applied topically. If large amounts of the drug are accidentally swallowed, a burning sensation in the mouth, salivation, nausea, and vomiting may occur. Treatment: oral and gastric lavage, if necessary-symptomatic treatment.
Special instructions
The drug should be applied only to undamaged areas of the skin, avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes. After applying the drug, do not apply an occlusive dressing. In case of contact with the eyes, mucous membranes or open wound surfaces, local irritation is observed – tearing, redness, burning, pain. The necessary measures in this case are washing the affected area with a plentiful amount of distilled water or saline solution until the complaints disappear or decrease. Sodium benzoate and dimethyl sulfoxide, contained in Troxymethacin gel as excipients, can have an irritating effect on the skin. Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms: The drug does not affect the ability to perform potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions (including driving vehicles, working with moving mechanisms).
