Pharmacological action
Ciprofloxacin is an antimicrobial drug from the group of fluoroquinolones, has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action, has a bactericidal effect. The drug inhibits the enzyme DNA gyrase of bacteria, as a result of which DNA replication and synthesis of bacterial cell proteins are disrupted. Ciprofloxacin acts both on multiplying microorganisms and on dormant ones.
The spectrum of antibacterial action of ciprofloxacin includes gram-negative microorganisms: Esherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus spp. (indole-positive and indole-negative), Morganella morganii, Citrobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Vibrio spp., Campylobacter spp., Hafnia spp., Providencia stuartii, Haemophilus influenzae, Pasteurella multocida, Pseudomonas spp., Gardnerella spp., Legionella pneumophila, Neisseria spp., Moraxella catarrhalis, Acinetobacter spp., Brucella spp., Chlamidia spp. Gram-positive microorganisms are also susceptible to ciprofloxacin: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus pyogenes, St. agalactiae, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Listeria monocitogenes. The drug is low-toxic.
Indications
Treatment of acute and chronic ear infections: otitis externa; acute and chronic otitis media.
Prevention of infectious otitis media before and after surgical interventions, in case of ear injuries, extraction of a foreign body from the external auditory canal, accompanied by damage to ear tissues.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Contraindicated in pregnancy. Breast-feeding should be discontinued for the duration of treatment.

Side effects
In some cases, allergic reactions may occur.
Interaction
Rastovor ciprofloxacin is incompatible with drugs with a pH value of 3-4, which are physically and chemically unstable.
How to take, course of use and dosage
Before using the drug, the external ear canal should be sanitized (rinse and dry the ear canal). The drug is instilled 5 drops into the external ear canal 3 times a day. Drops should be heated to body temperature.
After the symptoms of the disease disappear, continue treatment for 48 hours.
After instilling drops, keep your head in an upturned position for 2 minutes. You can put a cotton turunda in the external ear canal.
Overdose
When using ear drops, there were no cases of overdose.
In case of accidental ingestion, there are no specific symptoms, possibly nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, anxiety.
Treatment: it is necessary to ensure sufficient fluid intake, maintain the acidic reaction of the urine to prevent crystalluria. If necessary, conduct symptomatic therapy.
