Pharmacological action

Pharmacotherapy group: a means of treating hemorrhoids. ATX code:  From 05 TO 03.

Pharmacological properties

Combined anti-hemorrhoidal remedy. Tribenoside reduces capillary permeability and improves vascular tone; it has an antagonistic effect on some endogenous substances that act as mediators in the development of inflammation and pain. Lidocaine has a local anesthetic effect. The drug causes rapid relief of symptoms caused by hemorrhoids (pain, itching, and skin tension).

Pharmacokinetics.

The systemic bioavailability of tribenoside coming from the suppository reaches 30% of the amount that is absorbed when the drug is taken orally (in the form of capsules). Reaching the maximum plasma concentration of 1 mcg / ml (tribenoside+metabolites) is observed 2 hours after rectal use of 1 suppository (400 mg of tribenoside). Tribenoside is largely metabolized in the liver. 20-27% of the administered dose is excreted in the urine as metabolites.

Hemorrhoids (internal and external).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Use caution during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester.

During breastfeeding, use is possible without stopping breast-feeding, if the expected effect of therapy exceeds the potential risk to the child.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, liver failure, pregnancy (I trimester).

How to take, course of use and dosage

Rectally. With severe clinical symptoms,1 suppository is administered in the morning and evening. In case of regression of acute symptoms – 1 suppository 1 time a day.

Overdose

No cases of drug overdose have been reported. In case of accidental ingestion, gastric lavage is recommended, as well as symptomatic maintenance therapy.

Description

Solid rectal suppositories are torpedo-shaped, without cracks, slightly greasy to the touch, yellowish-white in color, with a faint specific smell.
