Pharmacological Action
The main active substances are arsumin (a sum of lactones) and absinthin (an individual lactone).
By irritating the taste receptors of the mucous membranes of the mouth and tongue, the wormwood tincture reflexively enhances the secretion of gastric juice, increases appetite, and improves digestion.
It has anti-inflammatory, choleretic, and antimicrobial action.
Indications
Employ the preparation for the management of specific gastrointestinal conditions associated with reduced appetite and impaired digestion.
- Anorexia.
- Hypo- and anacid gastritis.
- Chronic cholecystitis.
- Biliary dyskinesia of the hypomotor type.

Dosage Regimen
| The method of application and dosage regimen for a specific drug depend on its form of release and other factors. The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen. |
Administer the tincture orally, typically 2-3 times per day, as directed by a physician. Adhere strictly to the prescribed dose for each administration.
Continue the treatment course for a duration of 20 to 25 days. Do not exceed the recommended course without medical consultation.
Adverse Reactions
Monitor for allergic reactions, which are possible following administration. These may include skin rash, itching, or urticaria.
With prolonged use, gastrointestinal disturbances such as heartburn, gastralgia, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur. Discontinue use if these symptoms persist or worsen.
Drug Interactions
Exercise caution due to the ethanol content in the tincture. Ethanol may interact with a wide range of medications, including but not limited to central nervous system depressants, anticonvulsants, and anticoagulants.
Concurrent use with other gastric secretagogues or bitter tonics may have additive effects. Consult a healthcare provider for potential interactions with all concomitant medications.
Contraindications
Do not administer this preparation under the following conditions due to the risk of exacerbating the underlying disease state or causing adverse effects.
- Hypersensitivity to this agent or any of its components.
- Conditions with increased gastric secretion, including hyperacid gastritis.
- Peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum.
- Reflux esophagitis.
- Acute cholecystitis.
- Pregnancy and the breastfeeding period.
- Children under 12 years of age.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose are primarily related to the ethanol content and the irritant properties of the active constituents. Manifestations may include severe gastrointestinal cramping, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and signs of alcohol intoxication.
In case of suspected overdose, seek immediate medical attention. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. There is no specific antidote.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Contraindicated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Use in Renal Impairment
Use with caution in liver diseases.
Contraindicated for use in acute cholecystitis.
Pediatric Use
Contraindicated for use in children under 12 years of age.
Use with caution in children and adolescents over 12 years of age.
Geriatric Use
Use with caution in elderly patients.
Special Precautions
It should be taken into account that the tincture dosage form contains ethanol.
Effect on ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery
During the treatment period, caution should be exercised when engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions (driving vehicles, working with moving machinery, work of a dispatcher, operator).
Storage Conditions
Store at 15°C (59°F) to 25°C (77°F). Keep in original packaging, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
