Pharmacological Action

The infusion of Aervae lanatae herba has a diuretic as well as a moderate anti-inflammatory effect.

It promotes the excretion of sodium and calcium ions and, to some extent, potassium ions.

When using the preparation, a tendency to reduce the urea content in the blood serum is also noted.

Indications

• As part of complex therapy in adults as a diuretic for moderately severe edematous syndrome, infectious and inflammatory diseases of the kidneys ( pyelonephritis).

Herbal raw material

The infusion is prepared using one of the methods described below.

Method 1: Place about 5 g (2 tablespoons) of Aervae lanatae herba in an enamel bowl, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, then cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, and squeeze out the remaining raw material. Bring the volume of the resulting infusion to 200 ml with boiled water.

Method 2: Place about 5 g (2 tablespoons) of Aervae lanatae herba in a thermos, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of boiling water and infuse for 1 hour. Bring the volume of the resulting infusion to 200 ml with boiled water.

Take orally warm, 1/2 to 1/4 cup 2-3 times/day 15 minutes before meals. The course of treatment is from 10 to 30 days.

It is recommended to shake the infusion before use.

Adverse Reactions

Possibleallergic reactions, nausea.

Contraindications

• Osteoporosis;
• Diseases accompanied by increased excretion of calcium from the body, including hypoparathyroidism, rickets, renal osteodystrophy;
• Pregnancy;
• Lactation period;
• Children under 18 years of age;
• Hypersensitivity to the preparation.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.

Pediatric Use

Contraindicated in children under 18 years of age.

Storage Conditions

Store the preparation in a dry place, protected from light; the prepared infusion should be stored in a cool place for no more than 2 days.

Keep out of reach of children.

Shelf Life

Shelf life – 3 years.

Do not use after the expiration date printed on the package.

The preparation is approved for use as an over-the-counter product.
