Pharmacological Action

Calcarea carbonica ostrearum is oyster shell lime, a substance extracted from the underlying layer of the Crassostrea angulata shell after the removal of the white shiny layer called mother-of-pearl.

The substance is a whitish powder with a characteristic odor (ocean smell), practically insoluble in water and in alcohol.

The main component of oyster shell lime is calcium carbonate, which accounts for more than 90% of the total mass.

In addition, oyster shell lime contains

  • Magnesium carbonate;
  • Calcium sulfate;
