Pharmacological Action
A herbal medicinal product. It has analeptic, cardiotonic, vasoconstrictor, and expectorant effects.
It stimulates the respiratory and vasomotor centers of the medulla oblongata. It enhances metabolic processes in the myocardium, increasing its sensitivity to the influence of sympathetic nerves. It increases the tone of venous vessels, increases blood flow to the heart, coronary blood flow, and blood supply to the brain and lungs. It suppresses platelet aggregation. Being excreted through the respiratory tract, it promotes sputum separation.
Pharmacokinetics
Permeability through the blood-brain barrier and placental barrier is high; secretion with breast milk is high.
It is excreted by the kidneys – 70%, through the lungs – 20%, with bile – 10%.

Dosage Regimen

It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen. |
Administer subcutaneously. For adults, inject 1-2 ml every 2-3 hours or 4-5 ml 1-2 times per day.
For pediatric patients, use the following single doses: up to 1 year – 0.5-1 ml; 1 to 2 years – 1 ml; 3-6 years – 1.5 ml; 7-9 years – 2 ml; 10-14 years – 2.5 ml. Administer these doses 1-3 times per day.
Always warm the solution to body temperature prior to administration to improve patient comfort and absorption.
Adverse Reactions
Monitor for central nervous system effects such as headache and dizziness.
Local reactions at the injection site include oleogranuloma formation. Accidental intravascular injection can lead to fat embolism, a serious and potentially life-threatening complication.
Drug Interactions
Exercise caution with concomitant use of other central nervous system stimulants due to potential additive effects.
Avoid concurrent administration with drugs that lower the seizure threshold, such as certain antidepressants or antipsychotics, as camphor may possess pro-convulsant properties. Monitor for enhanced effects when used with other analeptic agents.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to camphor or any component of the formulation.
- Patients with a history of epilepsy or seizure disorders.
Use with extreme caution during pregnancy and lactation, and in the pediatric population due to the high permeability through biological barriers and potential for serious adverse effects.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose include agitation, confusion, nausea, vomiting, and seizures.
Severe overdose can lead to status epilepticus, respiratory depression, and coma. Treatment is supportive and symptomatic; there is no specific antidote. Manage seizures with appropriate anticonvulsant therapy and provide respiratory support as needed.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Use with caution during pregnancy and lactation.
