Therapeutic Category

Dietary supplement – additional source of lysine

Properties

A dietary supplement. Contains the essential amino acid lysine, which cannot be synthesized by the body and is supplied to the body only with food and supplements.

L-lysine is one of the most important amino acids, vital for the normal functioning of all organs and systems of the body, and is a key element of all proteins.

The mechanism of L-lysine antagonism with L-arginine in the fight against viral infection has been studied. L-lysine is an amino acid that can primarily inhibit the formation of capsid proteins and DNA through competitive antagonism with the amino acid arginine, which is an essential amino acid for some viruses, as well as by increasing the activity of arginase, enhancing the catabolism of arginine. Lysine residues are involved in the formation of cross-links of peptide chains of elastin molecules. With insufficient lysine intake, the tensile strength of elastic tissues decreases.

Maintaining L-lysine balance promotes the formation of collagen – an important component of cartilage and connective tissue, skin; strengthening immunity; maintaining muscle mass.
