Properties

Folidin is recommended for women planning pregnancy, as well as during pregnancy and lactation, when it is especially important to compensate for the deficiency of iodine and folic acid.

Folic acid (vitamin B9) is necessary during pregnancy and lactation because it plays an important role in all processes of cell division, tissue and organ growth. It participates in protein metabolism, the biosynthesis of RNA and DNA, which is especially important for growing tissues. Furthermore, Folic acid actively participates in ensuring the optimal functioning of the immune system, maintaining a balanced level of homocysteine in the blood, and also helps reduce fatigue.

Iodine is a vital trace element that participates in the synthesis of thyroid hormones. These hormones control the growth and development of all organs, including the nervous system (including the brain), skeleton, and musculature. Furthermore, Iodine is an important nutrient for maintaining healthy skin and balancing energy resources. Iodine deficiency can cause metabolic disorders in both the mother and the child, as well as delays in mental and physical development. The fetal thyroid gland only begins to synthesize its own hormones from the 12th week of pregnancy, and during breastfeeding, maternal iodine deficiency increases even more, as children receive Iodine exclusively through mother’s milk.

During pregnancy and lactation, it is not always possible to meet the significantly increased needs for light-sensitive folic acid and hard-to-access iodine solely through food. Taking Folidin allows for balanced intake of folic acid and iodine for both mother and child.
