Pharmacological Action
An anti-inflammatory agent, it has an antimicrobial (bactericidal against Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes), keratoplastic action.
When acting directly on the skin, it causes weak irritation of sensitive nerve endings, which is replaced by a decrease in their sensitivity, leading to the occurrence of reflexes that change tissue trophism.
It causes denaturation of protein molecules. Accelerates the maturation of boils.
Indications
Employ the medication for the topical management of various inflammatory and infectious skin conditions.

Apply specifically to the affected skin areas to exert its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and keratoplastic effects.

Dosage Regimen

Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and method of administration for the specific pharmaceutical form.
For suppositories, administer rectally, using 1-2 suppositories per day after a cleansing enema or spontaneous bowel movement.
For the ointment, apply externally. For adults and children aged 12 years and older, apply a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin 1-2 times daily. Use a bandage if necessary.

Adverse Reactions

Dimethyl sulfoxide, ethanol, and glycerol, when applied concurrently, enhance systemic absorption and increase the depth of penetration into soft tissues.

Overdose
Manage cases of excessive application promptly.
Symptoms of overdose may include intensified local adverse reactions, such as severe skin irritation or inflammation.
Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Discontinue the medication immediately and cleanse the affected area thoroughly.
In case of accidental ingestion, seek immediate medical attention and provide symptomatic care.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, use is possible if the expected benefit of therapy for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.
Pediatric Use
Contraindicated for use in children under 12 years of age.
Geriatric Use
The drug is approved for use in elderly patients.
Special Precautions
It is not recommended to apply to open wounds.
Avoid contact with mucous membranes and eyes.
