Pharmacological Action
A herbal preparation. It exerts expectorant and mucolytic effects, which are associated with the presence of saponins, essential oil (up to 4.3%), and mucilage.
Indications
As an expectorant for diseases of the upper respiratory tract.

Dosage Regimen

It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen. |
Herbal raw material
About 16 g (2 tablespoons) of roots and rhizomes are placed in an enamel bowl, poured with 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, covered with a lid, and infused in a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, cooled at room temperature for 10 minutes, strained, and the remaining raw material is squeezed out. The volume of the resulting decoction is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.
Take orally warm, 1/2 cup 2-3 times a day 1 hour before meals. The course of treatment is 2 weeks.
Before use, the decoction is recommended to be shaken.
Adverse Reactions
In some cases during the first days of administration – heartburn, abdominal pain.
Rarely skin itching.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to elecampane rhizome, kidney diseases, pregnancy, breastfeeding period, children under 12 years of age.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Contraindicated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Use in Renal Impairment
Contraindicated for use in patients with kidney diseases.
Pediatric Use
Contraindicated for use in children under 12 years of age.
Special Precautions
Heartburn and abdominal pain, which may increase while taking elecampane, disappear without discontinuing treatment.
Drug Interactions
The preparation should not be used simultaneously with antitussive drugs, as well as with drugs that reduce sputum production, as this makes it difficult to cough up liquefied sputum.
Storage Conditions
Store at 2°C (36°F) to 25°C (77°F). Keep in original packaging, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
