Angioprotective agent of plant origin
Pharmacological Action
A herbal preparation. Its action is determined by the nature of its influence on metabolic processes in cells, the rheological properties of blood and microcirculation, as well as on the vasomotor reactions of large blood vessels.
It improves cerebral circulation and the supply of oxygen and glucose to the brain.
It has a vasodilating effect and prevents platelet aggregation.
It normalizes metabolic processes and has an antihypoxic effect on tissues.
It prevents lipid peroxidation and the formation of free radicals of cell membranes.
It has a pronounced anti-edematous effect at the level of the brain and in peripheral tissues.
In various pathological conditions, it prevents an increase in the proteolytic activity of serum.
Indications
Use for the symptomatic management of cerebrovascular insufficiency in geriatric patients.
- Manage cognitive deficits including disturbances of memory, concentration, and mental performance.
- Alleviate associated neuro-sensory symptoms such as dizziness and tinnitus.
- Address concomitant conditions including feelings of fear, sleep disorders, and general malaise of vascular origin.

Dosage Regimen
| The method of application and dosage regimen for a specific drug depend on its form of release and other factors. The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen. |
Administer orally. The standard therapeutic dose for adults is 40 mg taken three times daily.
Adhere strictly to this regimen unless otherwise directed by a physician. Swallow the tablet whole with a sufficient amount of liquid, preferably with meals to improve gastrointestinal tolerance.
Adverse Reactions
Monitor for generally mild and infrequent adverse effects. Gastrointestinal disturbances such as dyspepsia are possible.
Be aware of potential headaches and allergic skin reactions, including rash and pruritus. Discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention if signs of a serious allergic reaction occur.
Contraindications
Do not use under the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to Ginkgo biloba or any excipient.
- Pre-existing conditions with increased bleeding risk: reduced blood clotting, hereditary bleeding diatheses.
- Active gastrointestinal erosions or ulcers.
- Acute medical events: cerebrovascular accident, myocardial infarction.
- Significant arterial hypotension.
- Pregnancy and lactation.
- Children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
Drug Interactions
Exercise extreme caution with concurrent use of drugs affecting hemostasis.
The combination with anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), antiplatelet agents (e.g., clopidogrel), and NSAIDs (including acetylsalicylic acid) may potentiate the bleeding risk.
Avoid concomitant use with thrombolytic therapy due to a documented increased risk of intracranial hemorrhage.
Overdose
In case of suspected overdose, discontinue use immediately and institute supportive measures.
Based on the pharmacological profile, monitor for severe gastrointestinal complaints and an increased risk of bleeding. There is no specific antidote; treatment should be symptomatic.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Ginkgo biloba is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and during lactation (breastfeeding).
Pediatric Use
Contraindicated in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
Special Precautions
The use of Ginkgo biloba preparations should be avoided in the presence of risk factors for the development of intracranial hemorrhage.
Storage Conditions
Store at 2°C (36°F) to 30°C (86°F). Keep in original packaging, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
