Dietary supplement for maintaining visual function

Properties

The dietary supplement Ocuvite® MAX caps is a source of carotenoids (lutein, zeaxanthin) and an additional source of vitamins C, E, and minerals (copper, selenium, zinc), specially developed to maintain eye health.

Throughout our lives, the body is subjected to constant stress. Environmental factors, frequent interaction with computers, the damaging effects of sunlight, and age can lead to the natural process of retinal degeneration, which can provoke vision deterioration.

Age-related changes in the retina can be irreversible and lead to partial or even complete loss of vision. Therefore, the prevention of retinal aging is of great importance. With age or in people with an unbalanced diet, a deficiency of antioxidants may occur, the importance of which was shown in the AREDS* study, which noted a slowdown in the deterioration of vision in people over 55 years of age who took a combination of antioxidants and zinc.

For maintaining healthy vision, the following are important: a healthy lifestyle, periodic rest, special eye exercises, protection of the eyes from direct sunlight, as well as regular vision monitoring, starting from the age of 50.

The components of Ocuvite® MAX caps are not produced by the body and are recommended for inclusion in the daily diet. The carotenoids contained in the product contribute to the protection of the retina from the damaging effects of bright light, reduce the risk of occurrence and development of age-related degenerative changes in the retina, and have antioxidant properties.

Lutein – a carotenoid that serves as a natural protection for the retina from excessively bright light.

Zeaxanthin – a yellow pigment from the xanthophyll group, accumulates in the pigment of the human eye retina, plays a role as a protective mechanism against light-induced cell damage, and promotes the destruction of lipofuscin. Clinical studies have shown that long-term intake of lutein and zeaxanthin increases macular pigment density and helps maintain high visual acuity.

Vitamins C and E, and Zinc, which are part of the dietary supplement Ocuvite® Max caps, are natural antioxidants and help reduce the impact of harmful factors and preserve vision, contribute to the strengthening of blood vessels, including the vessels of the fundus.

Vitamin C – one of the main antioxidants necessary for humans. It participates in the regulation of redox processes, carbohydrate metabolism, blood clotting, regulates the restoration of visual pigments, reduces increased intraocular pressure, and reduces the risk of developing glaucoma. When taken simultaneously with vitamin C, Lutein is absorbed faster.

Vitamin E – acts as a biological antioxidant, inactivating free radicals and thereby preventing their formation. Prevents increased fragility and permeability of capillaries. It is a prophylaxis for the appearance and development of cataracts.

Zinc – participates in the processes of antioxidant protection of cell membranes. Protects the eyes from damage due to exposure to ultraviolet and bright light. Zinc intake helps slow down age-related changes in the retina. Zinc deficiency can lead to reduced color perception, difficulties with night vision, and the formation of cataracts. In elderly people, zinc deficiency can be associated with problems such as loss of taste and appetite, depression, difficulty concentrating, and mental weakness.

Copper – plays an important role in the removal of free radicals that can damage retinal cells.

Selenium – a strong antioxidant that protects cells from the toxic effects of peroxide radicals

*AREDS – Age-Related Eye Disease Study.
