Pharmacological Action

Herbal remedy. The pharmacological activity of rose hips is determined mainly by the complex of vitamins (B vitamins, vitamin E, vitamin P, beta-carotene) and, primarily, by ascorbic acid.

It stimulates the body’s nonspecific resistance, enhances tissue regeneration and hormone synthesis, reduces vascular permeability, participates in carbohydrate metabolism, and has anti-inflammatory properties. It has a choleretic effect.

Indications

  • For the prevention and treatment of hypovitaminosis C and P.
  • As part of complex therapy for: biliary dyskinesia of the hypomotor type, chronic hepatitis, hepatocholecystitis, and non-calculous cholecystitis.

Dosage Regimen

The method of application and dosage regimen for a specific drug depend on its form of release and other factors. The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen.

Prepare an infusion using 10 g of raw material per 200 ml of water. Administer the prepared infusion orally.

Take 1/4 to 1/2 cup 2-3 times a day. Adhere strictly to the recommended dosage and frequency of administration.

It is used as an infusion. The prepared infusion (10 g of raw material per 200 ml of water) is taken orally, 1/4 to 1/2 cup 2-3 times a day.

Adverse Reactions

Monitor for potential allergic reactions, including skin rash, itching, or urticaria.

Discontinue use immediately if any signs of hypersensitivity appear and seek medical advice.

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to rose hips or any component of the formulation.
  • Cholelithiasis due to the choleretic effect.
  • Children under 12 years of age for certain dosage forms; verify specific product labeling.

Drug Interactions

Exercise caution with concomitant use of anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents due to the vitamin K content, which may affect their efficacy.

Monitor for potential interactions with drugs whose absorption or metabolism is influenced by changes in gastric acidity or biliary function.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, or diarrhea due to high ascorbic acid intake.

In case of suspected overdose, discontinue use immediately and implement symptomatic and supportive measures. Seek medical attention if severe symptoms occur.

Pediatric Use

It can be used in children according to indications, in age-appropriate recommended doses and dosage forms. It is necessary to strictly follow the instructions in the rose hip drug leaflets regarding contraindications for the use of specific rose hip dosage forms in children of different ages.

Special Precautions

The prepared infusion should be stored in a cool place for no more than 2 days.

Storage Conditions

Store at 15°C (59°F) to 25°C (77°F). Keep in original packaging, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.

Whole fruits cleared of sepals and stalks, their parts (hypanthium) of various shapes; fruit length 0.7-3 cm, diameter 0.6-1.7 cm. At the top of the fruit, there is a small round hole or a pentagonal area. The fruits consist of an overgrown fleshy receptacle (hypanthium) and numerous nutlets enclosed in its cavity. The walls of the dried fruits are hard, brittle, the outer surface is shiny, less often matte. The color of the fruits ranges from orange-red to brownish-red, red-brown, red-black. Odor is absent. The taste of the aqueous extract is sourish-sweet, slightly astringent.
