Pharmacological Action

Spigelia anthelmia is an annual herbaceous plant about 50 cm tall, native to the Antilles and South America.

The mother tincture is prepared from the entire dried flowering plant; it contains phenolic acids, flavonoids, and alkaloids: isoquinoline and an actinidine-type alkaloid.

Indications

Key symptoms for prescribing the drug

  • Very severe paroxysmal pain, spreading throughout the body and radiating to different areas, tearing, drilling, or pressing;
  • Severe headache in the area from the occiput to the eyes, passing through the cranial vault;
  • Increased skin sensitivity all over the body;
  • Sensation of tension, fullness in the frontal part of the head;
  • Ear pain of the type of sudden shooting pain, radiating towards the eye, zygomatic bone, throat.

Main cases of clinical application

Neurology

  • Facial, intercostal neuralgia, cervical neuralgia, etc.;
  • Postherpetic neuralgia;
  • Neurological manifestations of intestinal helminthiasis (ascarids): pain in the umbilical area, stuttering, strabismus.

Ophthalmology

  • Ocular migraines, inflammation of the iris, eye pain.

Cardiology

  • Palpitations, cardioneurosis.

Dosage Regimen

The granules should be dissolved in the mouth 30 min before meals or 60 min after meals.
