Pharmacological Action
A brown powder obtained by grinding the skeletons of sponges – animals of the species Euspongia. The amber-yellow colored preparation is characterized by a high iodine content. Considering the method of preparation*, the main constituents of the preparation are minerals (iodine, bromine, and silicon). Among the organic constituents, diterpenes, in particular isoagatolactone, can be noted.
* Part of the organic constituents is destroyed during grinding.
Indications
Key symptoms for prescribing the drug
- Dryness of mucous membranes;
- Sensation of a foreign body in the throat;
- Induration of lymphoid organs;
- Dry spasmodic cough;
- Thyroid pathology.
Main cases of clinical application
Otorhinolaryngology
- Acute laryngitis with hoarseness and a dry, wheezing, breathing-impeding cough;
- False croup with sudden awakening around midnight (the patient is suffocating, the condition is anxious).
In case of recurrent acute laryngitis, treatment should be started at the first coughing fits. In the absence of rapid improvement, classical drugs should be prescribed.
Endocrinology
- Diffuse euthyroid goiter with induration;
- Thyroid dysfunction with tachycardia.
Other indications
- Adenopathies with induration.
Dosage Regimen

Sublingually.
The granules must be dissolved in the mouth 30 minutes before a meal or 60 minutes after a meal.
For children from 0 to 3 years old, the granules are first diluted by shaking in 10-15 ml of water at room temperature and given to drink.
The optimal amount per dose is 5 granules.
