Drug Interactions
Magnesium can form insoluble complexes with some medications in the gastrointestinal tract, reducing their absorption. It is recommended to maintain an interval of at least 2-3 hours between taking Verrum-Vit Magnesium + B complex and the following drugs:
Tetracycline antibiotics (e.g., doxycycline, tetracycline), bisphosphonates (e.g., alendronate), fluoroquinolones (e.g., ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin), and thyroid hormones (e.g., levothyroxine).
Magnesium preparations may enhance the effect of antihypertensive drugs and muscle relaxants. Thiamine (B1) is incompatible with solutions containing sulfites. Pyridoxine (B6) may reduce the effectiveness of levodopa in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Always inform your doctor about all the dietary supplements and medications you are taking.
Overdose
In case of significant overdose, symptoms associated with an excess of magnesium (hypermagnesemia) may occur, especially in individuals with impaired renal function.
Symptoms of overdose may include: nausea, vomiting, severe diarrhea, marked decrease in blood pressure, muscle weakness, slowed reflexes, confusion, and cardiac arrhythmias.
In case of suspected overdose, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive; in severe cases, intravenous administration of calcium gluconate may be required as an antidote. Hemodialysis may be effective in removing magnesium, particularly in patients with renal failure.
