Therapeutic Category
Dietary supplement – an additional source of vitamins and minerals
Properties
Vitamins are low-molecular-weight organic compounds of various chemical natures, necessary for carrying out vital biochemical and physiological processes in living organisms.
The human and animal body does not synthesize vitamins or synthesizes them in insufficient quantities, so it must receive them in ready-made form with food.
In addition to vitamins, other essential substances – macro- and microelements – must be present in the human diet in small doses. They participate in many vital metabolic reactions, and some of them are necessary to ensure an adequate level of activity of the corresponding vitamins.
Insufficient intake of protein, vitamins, and minerals leads to a decrease in the body’s resistance and adaptation to the effects of physical, chemical, and biological environmental factors, including bacteria and viruses.
Microelements and vitamins help maintain natural immune defense by protecting physical barriers (skin/mucous membranes), thereby supporting cellular immunity systems, as well as antibody production.
The Vitrum® Immunactive vitamin-mineral complex contains 13 vitamins and 8 minerals, as well as beta-glucans and a bioflavonoid complex – essential components that work synergistically to support immunity.
Vitamins A, C, E help improve the barrier function of mucous membranes, promote the production of immunoglobulin A and interferon in the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, and participate in the body’s antioxidant defense, which leads to a reduction in the attachment and further penetration of bacteria and viruses.
Vitamins B6, B12, C, D, E and Folic acid along with microelements (Iron, Zinc, Copper and Selenium) act synergistically in supporting the functioning of immune cells. Insufficient intake of these vitamins and microelements can lead to immunosuppression.
Selenium and Zinc are natural elements of the human body’s antioxidant defense system. Zinc is involved in the differentiation of lymphocytes, especially the T-cell arm, accelerating the appearance of an immune response to infection in the body. Among the immunomodulatory effects of zinc that are directly related to protection against viral infection is the stimulation of interferon-alpha and interferon-gamma production. Selenium regulates the production of immunoglobulin G and increases lymphocyte activity.
Beta-glucans are natural substances (polysaccharides) found in algae, cereals, plants, fungi, bacteria, and yeast. Beta-glucans activate cells of the immune system and help protect against the influence of pathogenic microorganisms.
Bioflavonoids (collectively called vitamin P) are plant compounds found in the fruits, flowers, and stems of various plants, especially citrus and rose family plants. Bioflavonoids are strong natural antioxidants; they promote better absorption of vitamin C, improve the condition of the vascular system, and strengthen capillary walls.
