Selank is a synthetic analogue of endogenic peptide tuftsin that provides neurospecific effects on central nervous system. Specifically, it connects to nervous cells membranes.
Selank affects monoamine transmission in emotiongenic cerebrum part (hypothalamus, interbrain, cortex) and activity of the cerebrum’s tyrosine and tryptophan hydroxylase.
The medication shows tropism to serotonergic activity by normalizing serotonin levels in cerebrum when serotonin level has been artificially decreased. Selank stabilizes excitement emotions and deferred reactions in cerebrum and increases cortex neurons resistance to intensive workloads.
Selank decreases or fully relieves stress, anxiety and nervousness:
- Irritation
- Emotional misbalance
- Worrying
- Nervousness
- Apathy
Selank restores balance in cerebrum parts that are responsible for anxiety and depression. It has antiasthenic properties. It is a non-drowsy medication that can be used during driving. It can be taken with other medications as well.
Description:
Bioavailability of Selank when taken intranasal is 92.8%. The medication quickly absorbs in the mucous membrane of nose and appears in blood in 30 seconds. Concentration in blood gradually decreases during 5-5.5 minutes. No metabolite was found when taken intranasal way. The medication penetrates to the cerebrum tissues as well. Selank quickly distributes among organs and tissues. It is found unchanged in highly vascular organs such as liver, kidneys, and heart. Selank cannot be found in urine as it quickly degrades under peptidase influence.
Directions:
Sit down when instilling the medication in nose. Slightly cast back your head and instill the solution. Squeeze the nostrils for a short time to avoid licking.
Instill 2-3 drops (300-450micrograms) in each nostril. 4 drops are equal to 0.2 ml, 6 drops are equal to 0.3 ml. If needed, repeat the dosage in 15 minutes. Optimal one time dosage is 300-900 micrograms (4-12 drops), daily dosage is 900-2700 micrograms (12-36 drops) distributed in 3 times. The course of treatment is 10-14 days. If neede, the course may be repeated in 1-3 weeks.
Side effects:
- Unpleasant taste may occur when the medication gets in the throat
- Individual allergic reactions
