Pharmacological Action

Arnica montana is a perennial plant that grows mainly in mountainous areas.

Chemical composition

  • Flavonoids and proanthocyanidins;
  • Carotenoids and manganese;
  • Phenolic acids (caffeic and chlorogenic);
  • Sesquiterpene lactones, mainly helenalin.

The plant components have high biological activity.

  • Sesquiterpene lactones provide the plant with anti-inflammatory, anti-ecchymotic, and analgesic properties. Helenalin also has an antiseptic effect;
  • Flavonoids and proanthocyanidins have a vasoprotective effect.

Indications

  • Pain;
  • Muscle pain;
  • Hematomas.

Main cases of clinical application

Traumatology

  • Blows, falls, wounds, sports injuries, fractures;
  • Hemorrhages;
  • Consequences of childbirth, neonatal cephalohematoma;
  • Pre- and postoperative patient preparation;
  • Post-traumatic pain syndrome.

Muscle weakness

  • Consequences of prolonged muscle tension (prolonged muscle strain, post-stress myalgia);
  • Hoarseness in voice professionals (lecturers, teachers, singers, speakers) due to vocal cord strain;
  • Myalgia caused by stressful situations (mourning, etc.), with a feeling of being “beaten up”.

Otolaryngology

  • Consequences of tissue and mucous membrane trauma after manipulations and surgical interventions (tonsillectomy and others);

Ophthalmology

  • Subconjunctival hemorrhage;
  • Retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration.

Arnica montana is used as a vasoprotector*.

Gynecology

  • Episiotomy;
  • Cesarean section;
  • Preparation for childbirth.

Dermatology

  • Rosacea with symmetrical location of inflamed areas;
  • Couperose.

Dosage Regimen

The method of application and dosage regimen for a specific drug depend on its form of release and other factors. The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen.

Sublingually.

The granules should be dissolved in the mouth 30 minutes before meals or 60 minutes after meals.

For children from 0 to 3 years old, the granules are first diluted by shaking in 10-15 ml of water at room temperature and given to drink.

The optimal amount per dose is 5 granules.
