Pharmacological Action

Aurum metallicum is metallic gold or gold leaf.

In its natural state, it exists as veins in rock, nuggets, or flakes.

It is a yellow metal, very ductile and malleable, non-rusting and insoluble. It is also available as a fine, brown, matte powder which, when ground in a porcelain mortar, acquires a bright yellow glow. This gold powder is used to prepare homeopathic medicines. The substance is usually obtained by dissolving one part of chloroauric acid in ten parts of water and mixing with at least 75 parts of iron sulfate solution. This results in a precipitate which, after washing and drying, is released as a powder containing at least 98% gold.
