Pharmacological Action

Cactus is a succulent plant native to Central America and India. It has been acclimatized as an ornamental plant in Europe and also grows on the Mediterranean coasts.

The mother tincture is prepared from fresh young stems.

The plant contains an amine with cardiovascular activity – hordenine.

The mother tincture has a stimulating effect on cardiac activity, on the dilation of coronary and peripheral vessels. Hordenine, a weak sympathomimetic agent, also has antidiarrheal activity.

Indications

Key symptoms for prescribing the drug

  • Sensation of constriction, “tightening by an iron hoop or compression by an iron hand”;
  • Arterial pulsation and/or sudden and localized rush of blood with a sensation of heat (predominantly to the head);
  • Enormous heaviness in the occipital region, chest.

Cardiology

  • Pseudoanginal syndrome;
  • Paroxysmal headaches in hypertensive patients;

Gynecology, Obstetrics

  • Dysmenorrhea;
  • Menstrual discharge of very dark color, accompanied by spasmodic pain;
  • Labor pains.

Urology

  • Hematuria in renal colic;
  • Diseases of the bladder neck, urinary retention due to obstruction caused by hematuria;
  • Spasms or pain in the anus.

Rheumatology

  • Shoulder-hand syndrome with a sensation of constriction;
  • Algodystrophy of the upper limbs;
  • Arthralgia of the left arm with local swelling and a sensation of numbness.

Dosage Regimen

The granules should be dissolved in the mouth 30 min before a meal or 60 min after a meal.
