Pharmacological Action

A herbal preparation. It contains triterpene saponins – glycosides A-F; triterpene alcohols – monools, diols, triols; flavonoids, including isorhamnetin and quercetin glycosides; hydroxycoumarins, including scopoletin, umbelliferone, esculetin; carotenoids – lutein, zeaxanthin; essential oils – alpha-cadinol, T-cadinol, fatty acids; water-soluble polysaccharides – rhamnoarabinogalactans, arabinogalactans.

It exerts an anti-inflammatory effect and reduces capillary permeability. Due to the presence of terpene alkaloids, lactone, and flavones, it possesses antimicrobial activity.

It helps to enhance the metabolic function of the liver (improves the composition of bile, lowers the concentration of bilirubin and cholesterol), increases secretory and excretory functions, and stimulates reparative processes in the gastrointestinal tract.

Indications

Burns, purulent wounds, cuts, anal fissures; pharyngitis, tonsillitis; inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity (gingivitis, pyorrhea, inflammatory-dystrophic form of periodontal disease) and upper respiratory tract; as part of combination therapy for gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis, diseases of the gallbladder and biliary tract.

Dosage Regimen

The method of application and dosage regimen for a specific drug depend on its form of release and other factors. The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen.

Tincture

Externally, topically, orally. Areas with superficial skin damage (cuts) are treated with the tincture using a tampon. For bruises and eczema, an aqueous solution of the tincture (1 teaspoon per glass of water) is used in the form of lotions. For gargling and rinsing the oral mucosa, 1/4 to 1 glass of the aqueous solution of the tincture is used. The course of treatment is 1-2 weeks.

Orally, 15 minutes before meals, 10-20 drops diluted in 1/4 glass of water, 3 times a day. The course of treatment is 3-4 weeks.

Herbal raw material

Externally, topically, orally.

Areas with superficial skin damage (cuts) are treated with the tincture using a tampon.

For bruises and eczema, an aqueous solution of the tincture is used in the form of lotions.

For gargling and rinsing the oral mucosa, 1/2 to 1 glass of the aqueous solution of the tincture is used. The course of treatment is 1-2 weeks.

Orally, taken 3 times/day in the prescribed dose. The course of treatment is 3-4 weeks.

Adverse Reactions

Possible allergic reactions; when taken orally – sensation of bitterness in the mouth, burning sensation in the epigastric region, abdominal pain.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to calendula preparations.

For oral administration: acute gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcer in the acute stage, calculous cholecystitis; children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, it should be used only after consultation with a doctor, in cases where the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant.

Use in Hepatic Impairment

Contraindicated for oral use in calculous cholecystitis.

Pediatric Use

Contraindicated for oral use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Special Precautions

For peptic ulcer disease and gastritis with high acidity, it is used in combination with antacids and antispasmodics.

Storage Conditions

Store at 2°C (36°F) to 25°C (77°F). Keep in original packaging, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
