Pharmacological Action

Camphor is obtained by distillation followed by cooling of the natural oil derived from the wood of the camphor tree (Cinnamomum Camphora (L.) Presl.). This is an Asian tree of the laurel family.

Camphora is a solid, transparent, extremely volatile substance with a very strong, sharp, penetrating aroma and a bitter taste.

Indications

Administer for conditions characterized by the following key symptoms and main clinical applications.

  • Sensation of profound cold with pale, cold appearance, cyanotic lips, and ice-cold body to the touch.
  • Severe occipital headache.
  • Sensation of severe anxiety and a premonition of imminent death.
  • Palpitations.

Main clinical applications include otorhinolaryngology for the initial stage of rhinitis with a sensation of cold throughout the body and on mucous membranes.

Use in cases of cholera infection and cholera-like symptoms, for the treatment of shock and hypotension, and to neutralize the effect of most other homeopathic preparations.
