Properties

The beneficial effect of wheat germ oil is primarily associated with the presence of B vitamins, D, A, PP, K, vitamin E, and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in its composition. Vitamin E is one of the most important natural antioxidants. B vitamins are responsible in the body for energy production from carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. PUFAs are not synthesized in the human body, are essential, and must be supplied with food. Wheat germ contains from 55 to 65% linoleic acid, which belongs to the omega-6 class of fatty acids. It is found in large quantities in vegetable oils. In the body, linoleic acid can be converted into gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). GLA is used to reduce skin dryness and maintain the normal condition of the fatty membranes surrounding skin cells.

Millet (dry extract) is a cereal crop containing mainly carbohydrates, starch, and is rich in amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, which play a key role in maintaining normal metabolic processes in the skin and hair follicles. Millet extract can significantly improve the condition of the skin and hair, eliminate skin dryness, retain moisture in it, and prevent hair loss.

Vitamin B₅ (Calcium D-pantothenate) is part of coenzyme A, which plays an important role in fat and carbohydrate metabolism, energy production, the formation of adrenal hormones, and in erythropoiesis. Vitamin B₅ is involved in the metabolism of fatty acids, and the need for it increases sharply during puberty.

Vitamin B₆ (pyridoxine) is an extremely important vitamin involved in the formation of the body’s protein structures, neurotransmitters, prostaglandins, and in erythropoiesis. It is necessary for maintaining hormonal balance and an adequate immune response. Vitamin B₆ deficiency in adults manifests as skin lesions around the mouth (cheilitis), the development of seborrheic dermatitis, stomatitis, and dyspeptic disorders. Tissues with the most rapid cell regeneration require vitamin B₆.

Biotin is a B vitamin involved in the synthesis and utilization of fats and amino acids. Biotin deficiency in the body leads to a sharp deterioration in metabolic processes. Biotin is necessary for the formation of healthy nails and hair. The use of biotin increases nail thickness in patients with brittle nails. Strengthening hair and improving its growth are associated with biotin’s ability to improve the metabolism of fatty acids in the scalp.

The biological role of zinc is associated with the activity of the endocrine glands; it is necessary for the functioning of the endocrine system, including thymus hormones, insulin, growth hormone, and sex hormones. Zinc helps regulate the activity of the sebaceous glands. It is required for protein synthesis and collagen formation, improves the protective ability of the immune system, and wound healing.
