Pharmacological Action

Enzyme preparation. It has a proteolytic effect. Product of animal origin (Horse gastric juice).

It contains all the enzymes of gastric juice. The content of free hydrochloric acid is 0.07-0.25%. As a preservative, the preparation contains salicylic acid 0.02-0.04%. Total acidity is 0.1-0.3%, pH 1.30-1.95.

Indications

  • Achlorhydria – the absence of hydrochloric acid in the gastric juice.
  • Hypoacid and anacid gastritis – forms of gastritis characterized by reduced or absent gastric acid secretion.
  • Dyspepsia – indigestion or upset stomach, particularly when associated with insufficient digestive enzyme activity.

Dosage Regimen

The method of application and dosage regimen for a specific drug depend on its form of release and other factors. The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen.

Administer orally two to three times daily during or immediately after meals.

For adults, the dose is 15-30 ml (one to two tablespoons). For pediatric patients, adjust the dose based on age: for children under 3 years, administer 2.5-5 ml (half to one teaspoon); for children aged 3-6 years, administer 10 ml (two teaspoons); for children aged 7-14 years, administer 10-15 ml (one tablespoon).

Adverse Reactions

Gastrointestinal adverse reactions such as heartburn may occur.

Allergic reactions are possible, including skin rash, itching, or other hypersensitivity manifestations. Discontinue use if any adverse reactions develop.

Drug Interactions

Exercise caution with concomitant use of other acidic substances or agents that may affect gastric pH.

The preparation contains salicylic acid as a preservative; consider potential interactions with other salicylate-containing medications or drugs that may be affected by salicylates.

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to the active substance, salicylic acid, or any other component of the preparation.
  • Contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to equine proteins or any animal-derived products.
  • Avoid use in conditions where acidic agents are not recommended due to the preparation’s inherent acidity.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include gastrointestinal discomfort, heartburn, or signs of salicylate toxicity due to the preservative content.

In case of suspected overdose, discontinue use immediately and initiate symptomatic and supportive treatment. There is no specific antidote; manage salicylate intoxication according to standard medical protocols if present.

Pediatric Use

Can be used in children according to indications.

Special Precautions

Quickly loses activity when stored in a warm place.

Storage Conditions

Store the drug out of reach of children, in a light-protected place at a temperature of 2 to 10°C (50°F).

Shelf Life

Shelf life – 1 year. Do not use after the expiration date printed on the package.
