Pharmacological Action

Euphrasia officinalis is a small herbaceous plant about 30 cm tall. In Europe, it grows in meadows, siliceous heaths, and forest edges, parasitizing on the roots of neighboring plants.

The mother tincture is prepared from the whole flowering plant.

Eyebright contains:

  • Essential oils;
  • Iridoid glycosides (aucubin);
  • Phenolic acids;
  • Lignin;
  • Sterols, including stigmasterol, which has an ocular tropism.

Collectively, these active components are effective in the treatment of eye diseases, as well as diseases of the nasal mucosa.

Indications

  • Use for the management of ocular symptoms including a sensation of sand in the eyes, accompanied by irritation of the eyes and eyelids.
  • Employ for complaints of a sensation of heat and burning in the eyes.
  • Indicated for visual disturbances such as haze in the eyes and blurred vision.

Apply in cases of allergic and infectious conjunctivitis, whether bacterial or viral in origin.

Utilize for the treatment of allergic and infectious rhinoconjunctivitis, including cases associated with conditions like measles.

Dosage Regimen

The method of application and dosage regimen for a specific drug depend on its form of release and other factors. The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen.

Administer all potencies sublingually by allowing the granules to dissolve completely under the tongue.

Take doses 30 minutes before a meal or 60 minutes after a meal to ensure optimal absorption. The standard single dose is 5 granules.

For children from 0 to 3 years old, first dissolve the granules by shaking them in 10-15 ml of water at room temperature and administer the solution to drink.

Consult a physician to determine the appropriate potency (C5, C9, C15, C30), frequency of administration, and duration of treatment.

Adverse Reactions

No adverse reactions have been reported or described to date with the use of this preparation.

Due to the high dilution of homeopathic products, the risk of adverse effects is considered very low.

Discontinue use and consult a doctor if any unexpected symptoms or reactions occur following administration.

Contraindications

  • Do not use in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Euphrasia officinalis or any of the excipients, notably sucrose and lactose.
  • Contraindicated in individuals with lactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption, as the product contains lactose.

Special Precautions

The dosage regimen and frequency of administration are determined by the doctor.

If there is no therapeutic effect within 3 days, or if adverse reactions occur, you should consult a doctor.

Overdose

No cases of overdose have been reported to date. Due to the nature of homeopathic preparations in high dilutions, toxic effects from overdose are not expected.

In the event of accidental ingestion of a significantly large quantity, seek medical advice or contact a poison control center for reassurance and further management.

Drug Interactions

No clinically significant drug interactions between this homeopathic preparation and conventional medicines are known or have been reported.

The use of other medicines, including topical ophthalmic products, is generally possible during treatment. However, inform your physician about all medications you are using.

Avoid consuming strongly flavored substances such as coffee, menthol, or camphor immediately before or after administration, as they may theoretically antagonize the homeopathic effect.
