Pharmacological Action

Hydrastis canadensis is a low herbaceous plant of the forest belt of Canada and the USA.

Chemical composition

• Hydrastine, specific to goldenseal;
• Berberine, also found in other plants (Berberis vulgaris, Chelidonium majus, Sanguinaria canadensis);
• Other minor alkaloids, including canadaline.

Hydrastine and its oxide, hydrastinine, have a vasoconstrictive, hemostatic and hypertensive effect, which gives them venotonic and anti-hemorrhoidal properties.

Otorhinolaryngology

• Rhinopharyngitis;
• Cough caused by rhinorrhea;

The C5 potency of Hydrastis canadensis promotes mucus discharge. The C15 potency helps stop mucus discharge.

Pulmonology

• Chronic bronchitis in elderly patients.

Gastroenterology

• Pain in the liver and gallbladder area;

Dosage Regimen

Sublingually.

The granules should be dissolved in the mouth 30 minutes before meals or 60 minutes after meals.

For children from 0 to 3 years old, the granules are first dissolved by shaking in 10-15 ml of water at room temperature and given to drink.

The optimal amount per dose is 5 granules.
