Pharmacological Action

A topical ophthalmic agent. Hypromellose is a protector of the corneal epithelium, has a lubricating and emollient effect, and possesses high viscosity, which increases the duration of contact of the solution with the cornea.

The refractive index of the solution is similar to natural tears. It promotes the restoration, stability, and reproduction of the optical characteristics of the tear film.

Indications

Insufficient tear secretion, lagophthalmos, eyelid deformities, conditions after plastic surgery on the eyelids, condition after thermal and chemical burns of the cornea and conjunctiva, after removal of foreign bodies and toxic substances from the eye; “dry” keratoconjunctivitis (Sjögren’s syndrome and disease); eye irritation caused by smoke, dust, cold, wind, sun, salt water, in case of allergies, as well as when using contact lenses.

For disinfection of the tear fluid.

Dosage Regimen

The method of application and dosage regimen for a specific drug depend on its form of release and other factors. The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen.

Instill one to two drops into the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s).

Apply up to four to eight times daily or as directed by a physician.

Increase application frequency as needed for symptom relief in cases of severe dryness or exposure.

For use with contact lenses, apply drops only during breaks from lens wear; remove lenses before instillation.

In post-operative or post-traumatic conditions, adhere strictly to the prescribed frequency and duration of treatment.

Do not allow the dropper tip to contact any surface, including the eye, to prevent contamination.

Close the bottle tightly immediately after use.

Discard the container one month after first opening.

Adverse Reactions

In some cases local allergic reactions.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to hypromellose.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding according to indications and in accordance with the dosing regimen.

Use in Hepatic Impairment

Can be used in patients with hepatic impairment.

Use in Renal Impairment

Can be used in patients with renal impairment.

Pediatric Use

Contraindicated for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Geriatric Use

There are no specific restrictions for use.

Special Precautions

Do not exceed therapeutic doses, do not use for a long time.

It is not recommended to use the drops in the acute stage of a chemical burn of the cornea and conjunctiva until the toxic substance is completely removed.

Use only during breaks from wearing contact lenses.

Drug Interactions

Should not be used simultaneously with eye drops containing heavy metal salts.

Storage Conditions

Store at 2°C (36°F) to 25°C (77°F). Keep in original packaging, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
