Pharmacological Action

Hahnemann’s soluble mercury (Mercurius solubilis) is a grayish powder, caustic and astringent, practically insoluble in water and alcohol; it contains 85% mercury (Hg).

Indications

Key symptoms for prescribing the drug

  • Asthenia;
  • Deep stabbing, shooting, piercing pains;
  • Tenesmus and burning of the genitourinary organs or rectum;
  • Bad breath;
  • Swollen tongue with tooth marks on the edges;
  • Purulent processes.

Main cases of clinical application

C5 potency promotes suppuration, increases discharge. C15 and C30 potencies reduce them or promote cessation. The action of the C9 potency can be ambivalent depending on the clinical stage and patient reactivity.

Otorhinolaryngology

  • Acute or recurring tonsillitis of non-streptococcal origin*;
  • Stenosing pharyngitis with reflex otalgia and concomitant cervical lymphadenopathy;
  • Acute or recurrent rhinitis and rhinopharyngitis with characteristic discharge and modalities;
  • Frontal sinusitis with neuralgia;
  • Parotitis with hyperemia of Stensen’s duct;
  • Epidemic parotitis (mumps);
  • Otitis with otorrhea and a sensation of tingling and burning.

Ophthalmology

  • Blepharitis and conjunctivitis, worsening in heat and light and accompanied by characteristic discharge;
  • Ulcerative keratitis.

Pulmonology

  • Bronchitis with a tendency to shortness of breath with allergic and infectious involvement (“microbial allergy”);
  • Bronchopneumopathies with mucopurulent sputum.

Gastroenterology

  • Acute diarrhea, sometimes hemorrhagic, with tenesmus;
  • Ulcerative colitis, rectocolitis, sigmoiditis, especially after amoebiasis.

Dentistry

  • Gingivitis with painful spongy gums that bleed at the slightest touch;
  • Dento-alveolar pyorrhea with viscous, mucopurulent discharge;
  • Periodontosis with exposed tooth roots and characteristic “mercurial mouth”;
  • Stomatitis, including aphthous, with superficial sluggish erosions;
  • Gum abscesses.

Urology

  • Painful urethritis with mucopurulent urine;
  • Cystitis accompanied by burning, tenesmus, dysuria, dark-colored and sometimes bloody urine.

  • Toxic interstitial nephropathy, accompanied by thirst and mild edema.

Neurology

  • Tremor of the limbs, worsening with emotional experiences and overwork;
  • Cephalalgia with characteristic signs.

Behavioral Disorders

  • Behavioral disorders associated with character instability, accompanied by severe outbursts of anger in children, who are also prone to purulent processes;
  • School difficulties in restless children.

Dermatology

  • Itching in inflammatory processes causing suppuration;
  • Infected eczema;
  • Superficial extensive infected ulcerations;
  • Abscess, lymph node inflammation with suppuration.

Dosage Regimen

The method of application and dosage regimen for a specific drug depend on its form of release and other factors. The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen.

Sublingually.

The granules should be dissolved in the mouth 30 minutes before meals or 60 minutes after meals.

For children from 0 to 3 years old, the granules are first diluted by shaking in 10-15 ml of water at room temperature and given to drink.

The optimal amount per dose is 5 granules.
